Akron/Family <bmbz> (2011, Dead Oceans)
Gatefold double album of the most important document of the "leak blog" era. As an attempt to distrupt the inevitable internet leak of their album S/T II: The Cosmic Birth and Journey of Shinju TNT, Akron/Family gradually leaked six alternate versions of the album themselves. Brutally remixed by friends, these releases offered little sense of what S/T II would eventually sound like, and were super confusing. <bmbz> compiles highlights of these remixes. The artwork is a collage that incorporates some highlights from the comment sections of leak blogs, captured during the leak process, as fans of A/F and not paying for music tried to make sense of what they had downloaded.
